Tomato Bruschetta – A Simple and Cost Effective Appetizer

Bruschetta is the perfect appetizer for a dinner party or date night for 2 reasons. One, it’s really easy to make and two, it looks super fancy. That’s the perfect combination if you ask me. Plus I love garlic and basil sooo… this is pretty much my fav as far as easy appetizers are concerned. For the toast, you can either buy a baguette at the store (great for on-the-go ladies like myself) or make your own baguette (great for cooking-loving ladies, also like myself). Decisions, decisions… Most likely, your homemade baguette would come out better than store bought, but if you live near a french bakery, buying one there may not be such a bad idea. All bread variables aside, try this bite-sized masterpiece for your next dinner party or date night. You won’t regret it. FYI, this recipe will make about 12 pieces of bruschetta and takes about 15 minutes to create, from start to finish.


  • 6 plum tomatoes, diced
  • 1 green-yellow tomato, diced
  • 8-10 fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, smashed or minced
  • 1 tbsp of balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp of kosher salt
  • 1/8 tsp of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp of ground black pepper

  • 1/2 cup of fresh Parmesan cheese, shredded


This is super easy guys. First, preheat the oven to 350°F. Grab a large bowl and combine the tomatoes, basil, garlic, balsamic, olive oil, salt, sugar, and black pepper. Set this aside. Take your baguette slices and toast them with a pan on the stove with butter and olive oil. Toast on both sides until golden-brown. Load up your buttery, toasty goodness with the tomato mixture, and top each with Parmesan cheese. Place in the oven on a baking sheet and leave them in there for just long enough to melt the cheese (about 5 minutes). And now they are ready to serve!
